The new Tuas Port officially opens in Singapore with three berths

Tuas Port, the world’s largest fully automated port, officially inaugurated the first phase and will anchor the future western gateway. At present, three berths are operational with 500 workers running the show. At the opening ceremony, the honorable Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong stated that the port will be critical to driving Singapore’s economy and strengthening its status as an International Maritime Center. He further added that Tuas port is a mega port and is close to many industries in western Singapore and other industrial areas means that consignment can be moved faster at an affordable rate. The Taus port will bring efficient production, and a quicker turnaround of the products to be exported to the international markets. Also, with the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning, the port will ensure that international partners and other shipping lines can handle complex operations of vessel movements safely and efficiently.

The port operation PSA’s chairman said that for Singapore it’s a new era and the newly inaugurated port can help realize the immense potential of Singapore as a hub for world trade. He said that the $20 billion facility would be a game changer for the shipping and logistics industry.
