The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has inducted the Just in Time Planning and Coordination Platform (JIT Platform) for vessels anchoring at the PSA Terminal and Jurong Port for cargo operations starting 1 October 2023.

All the stakeholders, like the ship agents, ship liners and marine service providers have been instructed to utilise the JIT platform to get optimum advantage concerning vessel arrival and departure from the Port of Singapore. The JIT Platform will be extended to tankers berthing at the energy terminals and to all vessels calling at the anchorages from January 2024.

JIT Platform is an advanced technology that provides advanced and up-to-date information on the vessel schedule in port, allowing vessels to maintain an optimal operating speed to arrive at the Port of Singapore which helps in reducing time at the anchorages just before berthing. The program leads to less fuel consumption through voyage optimisation and reduces carbon emissions.

MPA feels service providers and stakeholders can easily use the series and make use of real-time data to schedule vessel plans and for the deployment of resources such as pilotage, towage, bunker services and much more that will aid in saving time and money.

MPA has been organizing training sessions since July 2023 for ship agents, towage service providers and bunker suppliers to have on-job experience to familiarize themselves with the application features and functions. Using the JIT program, the terminals can easily provide the estimated time of berthing (ETB), which will be shared across to the shipping agent, directly to the vessel, and to all port services providers (pilots, tugs, bunkering barges, etc.). This will not allow the operators to make use of a first come first serve basis but every stakeholder will be able to manage from their end with all necessary info at their disposal.
