Philadelphia-based PSA BDP is a supply chain & logistics service provider that has agreed and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dow Chemical International (DOW India) to inaugurate sustainable transportation, a first-of-its-kind in India.

PSA BDP will adopt electric vehicles (EVs) for import and export activity through container trucking from PSA International’s Mumbai, Ameya and other terminals to Dow India’s facilities. This service is expected to start by 2024. The trucking container is said to be operated via PSA Mumbai’s open-access solar plant which is set to be operational later quarter of 2023.

This is a unique innovation for zero-emissions transport solutions in the Indian market and will lead to an eco-friendly combination of PSA BDP services that offer flexibility and connection for Dow Indian and other customers.
Moreover, PSA BDP has invested in electric vehicles for this project and has secured partnerships with the regional truck manufacturer and is looking ahead to a new partnership with this new transport solution.

In addition, the vehicles procured can move a fully loaded container for up to 200 km, leading to a drop in annual carbon emissions of nearly 300 tonnes when compared to diesel counterparts.
