Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has recently signed a lease for a period of 30 years through a PPP for the upgradation, equipping, operation, maintenance and transfer of the Shallow Water Berth (SWB) facility and newly constructed Coastal Berth (CB) at the port.

While Shallow Water Berth is allowed to handle Container, Liquid, Steel, Project Cargo, Ro-Ro, Ropax and other clean cargoes covering both coastal and EXIM, the Coastal Berth is permitted to handle only coastal commodities like Cement, Steel, Containers and other clean cargoes.

All the JNPA terminals handle exclusive containers, whereas the operators handle their services weekly under fixed berthing windows. As JNPA is instrumental in catering exclusive facilities for such vessels at the Shallow Water Berth, it is mandatory to maintain the infrastructure at the port to cater to non-window vessels carrying multipurpose cargoes which arrive infrequently.

To promote the policy of JNPA to support trade, Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal is offering berths to other ad-hoc services also operating in these sectors, who have to go through a cumbersome process to get a slot in time.
Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal is getting updates with the support of authorities who are interested in promoting the trade handled through Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminals.
