During Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s official visit to New Delhi, India and Singapore signed a landmark MoU to create the Singapore-India Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC). The agreement, witnessed by Prime Ministers Wong and Modi, aims to accelerate the maritime industry’s shift to zero or near-zero emission fuels while integrating advanced digital technologies to enhance efficiency and resilience.
The corridor will focus on developing infrastructure, supporting alternative fuel adoption, and promoting digital information exchange. India’s renewable energy capacity and manufacturing base complement Singapore’s position as a global port hub with world-class bunkering and maritime innovation facilities, creating a strong foundation for success.
This initiative aligns with the two countries’ broader Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which deepens cooperation across sustainability, digitalisation, connectivity, and trade. As 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties, the GDSC highlights the growing bilateral commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness. Both leaders emphasised that the corridor will not only strengthen supply chains between Indian ports and Singapore but also set a model for green maritime cooperation worldwide.
