A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been agreed upon by the city of Rotterdam and the city of Oslo to develop a new green corridor for short-sea shipping that will be managed by Samskip’s next-generation green hydrogen-fuelled SeaShuttle box ships.

Samskip CEO Kari-Pekka Laaksonen stated that the agreement signed is an indication that they are moving one step ahead and closer towards the exciting launch of SeaShuttle, a zero-emission hydrogen vessel and look forward to continuing to nurture the long-lasting relationship that has been built between Rotterdam and Oslo.

Two Samskip next-generation zero-emission SeaShuttles will be used to service the new green corridor and are among the first zero-emission short sea container vessels in the world to make use of green hydrogen as fuel. The operation will be conducted weekly between Rotterdam and ports in the Oslofjord region establishing end-to-end corridor services.
