Abu Dhabi-based AD Ports Group has signed a 30-year concession agreement with the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) to manage and operate Jordan’s Aqaba Multipurpose Port, marking a significant expansion of its regional and global port network. Under the deal, AD Ports will hold 70 % ownership in a new joint venture with ADC holding the remaining 30 %, and plans to begin official operations in August 2026 following an investment of approximately AED 141 million (USD 38.4 million).
The Aqaba Multipurpose Port is Jordan’s primary general cargo and multipurpose seaport, handling close to 80 % of the nation’s exports and two-thirds of its imports — including general cargo, grains, livestock, roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) and project shipments — and serving as a vital logistics gateway for neighbouring markets such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
This long-term concession enhances AD Ports’ strategic footprint in the Red Sea and Middle East logistics corridor and aligns with its broader ambitions to build integrated trade and transport hubs across continents. Aqaba is expected to benefit from upgraded operational expertise, improved connectivity and stronger ties between Jordan and global trade networks, helping boost cargo throughput and economic activity in the region.
