The GSA (Ghana Shippers Authority) and Freight Forwarders have declared new rates which took effect on Jan 1, 2023. The new rates will be applied by freight forwarders and clearing agents to clear consignment at two seaports, Takoradi and Tema ports, Elubo and Aflao borders, and Kotka International Airport.

The new rates have been updated after several meetings with stakeholders including the freight forwarders and the clearing agents. The rates correspond with the service provided and are in accordance with the GSA’s 2012 laws. Benonita Bismarck, CEO of GSA, advised the concerned freight forwarders and the clearing agents to adhere to the new rates as they have gone through a lot of struggle to get the rates agreed upon. However, the freight forwarder and clearing agents should ensure not to charge more than the prescribed rate but can charge less depending on the relationship with the customers. On the same lines, the VP of Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), Paul Mensah has cautioned the suppliers to be aware of the fake forwarder activities.
