A new containerised rail freight service has been launched between Khemli near Udaipur in Rajasthan and Whitefield in Bengaluru, Karnataka, strengthening rail connectivity between northern and southern India. The service is designed to transport cement from a manufacturing facility near Khemli to markets in southern India. It establishes a dedicated rail connection between a major cement-producing region and an important destination market. The introduction of the service expands the available transportation options for industrial cargo moving over long distances. Containerised rail operations enable goods to be transported through an organised network connecting production facilities, rail terminals and destination points. The development also reflects the use of dedicated freight services to support the movement of bulk industrial commodities in containerised form. Cement distribution requires reliable transportation links between manufacturing locations and consumption centres, particularly where shipments travel across multiple states. The new connection links Rajasthan’s manufacturing base with Bengaluru’s regional market and distribution network. The service is expected to support the movement of cement between the two locations through a scheduled rail-based arrangement. Rail freight services can also form part of multimodal transportation networks, with road transport used where required for collection and final delivery. The overall operating model depends on terminal arrangements, train schedules and the coordination of cargo movements at both ends of the route. The launch adds another rail-based freight connection to India’s domestic logistics network, supporting the movement of industrial goods between production centres and destination markets. BANGLADESH
