Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT), Saudi Arabia's leading terminal operator, and CMA CGM Group have signed definitive agreements to jointly develop and operate Terminal 4 at Jeddah Islamic Port, in collaboration with the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) — marking one of the largest foreign direct investments in Saudi Arabia's maritime sector. The project represents an initial investment of approximately USD 434 million (SAR 1.6 billion) and will create a new state-of-the-art container terminal as part of RSGT's existing concession, adding up to 2.6 million TEUs of annual handling capacity to Jeddah Islamic Port, which currently has a total capacity of 6.2 million TEUs.

The agreement was signed in Paris in conjunction with the French-Saudi Investment Roundtable Meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic — underscoring the project's strategic significance as a flagship bilateral investment. The new terminal will include new deep-water berths designed to accommodate the world's largest container vessels, supported by advanced terminal technologies and 10 new ship-to-shore cranes.

The development will enhance productivity, efficiency, and service reliability for customers across the Kingdom and the wider region, strengthening Jeddah Islamic Port's ability to efficiently serve larger vessels and major international shipping services. Jeddah Islamic Port is the main maritime gateway of Saudi Arabia and a reference stop on the Red Sea corridor — one of the most strategically sensitive routes in global container trade due to its direct connection to the Suez Canal.

The project builds on Mawani's ongoing efforts to develop port infrastructure and strengthen its competitiveness, contributing to the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030. The Executive Chairman of RSGT said this partnership represents a major milestone for both RSGT and the Saudi maritime sector, demonstrating the Kingdom's ability to attract leading international investors and reflecting growing confidence in Saudi Arabia's economic future, its logistics ambitions, and its strategic position at the heart of global trade. RSGT contributes proven operational excellence and local expertise; CMA CGM brings its global shipping network, logistics capabilities, and terminal operating experience.
